Kailash: The Eye of the Storm of Awakening
Within each storm there is a central, peaceful place, which is often termed the ‘eye’. Around this place swirls the turmoil and mayhem of the storm winds, but the centre, although calm, is the driver of the storm. On the planet there is one place where the energies are strong and powerful, yet it remains stable and serene, a link to the unchanging consciousness at the heart of creation.
The holy mountain Kailash is the central axis on which the earth is founded and is known as the gateway from earth to heaven. It is likened to the shushumna nadi (energy channel) within the human body at the centre of the spinal column, which leads up to the sahasrara chakra, our connection to divinity. The energy that connects is called the kundalini.
When we tap into to the infinite potential of the kundalini we become closer to cosmic intelligence and wisdom.
When we tap into to the infinite potential of the kundalini we become closer to cosmic intelligence and wisdom. Kundalini is the untapped potential within a human for compassion, creativity, healing and radical aliveness. There is tremendous power unleashed when the kundalini energy begins to awaken, often likened to a storm, and yoga practices and self-awareness are needed to stabilize the mind body apparatus so it can handle the immense amount of energy released.
To contain this fire, this energy, it is necessary to go through a process of self-purification and to move from identification as a wave on the ocean (egoic consciousness) to one where we are one with the ocean (unity consciousness). If we can risk our small egoic identity and awaken to our true nature we will be amazed at what we are capable of. In a time of increasing instability on the Earth planet, there is simultaneously an increasing number of beings who are awakening and are firmly grounded in the Oneness, in wisdom.
It is not just humans that are awakening. Gaia, the Earth itself, is awakening. In this process Kailash plays an important role. Just as there is an eye of a storm, a still centre in the turmoil, so too it is said that the eye of the storm of awakening of the planet is Kailash. The One consciousness we all are is represented by Kailash, and is also a reality that can be felt in its presence. Beyond the instability of creation, and at this time increasing major disturbances on the Earth, Kailash is one of the places on the planet that is stable.
It is not just humans that are awakening. Gaia, the Earth itself, is awakening.
Deep in the heart of the planet there is fire. To contain the energy of Earth’s fire (kundalini), Kailash was created. Just as yogis perform kriyas to contain and channel the power of kundalini in the human body, Kailash contains and channels the kundalini of the Earth. This is one of the reasons why one can perceive many mysterious phenomena at Kailash, including lights and sounds coming from deep within it.
It is also why many who go to Kailash, are able to have the experience of coming back to the centre of being, their own consciousness within. As they align with the energy field of Kailash, they begin to have access to the energy of kundalini, a greater intelligence that gives them access to things they haven’t learned yet, an access to the ‘mind’ of God. They begin to have deeper access to the infinite potential beyond thought and time, and discover their previously untapped potential for the way they live their life.
